Terms used

"personal data" means any information that identifies or makes identifiable a natural person (hereinafter "data subject").
"processing" means any operation carried out in relation to personal data. The term is broad and covers virtually every handling of data.
"controller" is defined as the natural or legal person, public authority, agency or other body that alone or jointly with others determines the purposes and means of the processing of personal data.

Access data

We collect data on access to the website on the basis of our justified interest (see Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f. DSGVO) and store these as "server log files" on the server of our website. The following data may be logged:

  • Visited website
  • Time of access
  • Li>Amount of sent data in bytes
  • Source/reference from which you reached the page
  • Used browser
  • Operating system
  • IP address used

The server log files are stored for a maximum of 7 days and then deleted. The data is stored for security reasons, e.g. to clarify cases of misuse. If data have to be deleted for reasons of proof, they are excluded from deletion until the incident has been finally clarified.


The hosting services used by us serve the provision of this online offer.
We or our hosting provider process inventory data, contact data, content data, contract data, usage data, meta data and communication data of visitors to this online service on the basis of our legitimate interests in the efficient and secure provision of this online service in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f DSGVO i.V.m. Art. 28 DSGVO. For this purpose, we have concluded an order processing contract with our hosting provider.

Authentic legal basis

We inform you about the legal basis of our data processing in accordance with Art. 13 DSGVO. If the legal basis is not mentioned in the data protection declaration, the following applies:

  • Legal basis for obtaining consent is Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. a and Art. 7 DSGVO
  • Legal basis for processing for the fulfilment of our services and implementation of contractual measures as well as response to inquiries is Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. b DSGVO
  • Legal basis for processing to fulfil our legal obligations is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. c DSGVO
  • Legal basis for processing to protect our legitimate interests is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO

Changes to our privacy policy

We ask you to inform yourself regularly about the content of our data protection declaration. If necessary, we will adapt our data protection declaration as soon as the changes to the data processing carried out by us make this necessary. We will inform you as soon as the changes require your cooperation (e.g. consent) or any other individual notification.

Cooperation with contract processors and third parties

Collecting and processing personal data

You may also visit this website without providing any personal information. However, in order to improve our online services, we store your access data to this website (without personal reference). Handling of contact data

If you contact us as website operator through the contact options offered, your details will be stored so that they can be used to process and respond to your enquiry. This data will not be passed on to third parties without your consent.

Handling byour registration for events

We collect the following mandatory information within the scope of registration for events:

  • Surname, first name and title,
  • E-Mail address,
  • Address (company address) and
  • Phone number.

Any other mandatory information is marked as such (by *). In addition, further information can often be provided voluntarily. The processing of the obligatory data takes place in order to identify you as a participant of the event, to check the plausibility of the data entered, to reserve the participation place and to justify or implement the contract on participation with you and to provide you with information on the event before, during and after the event, which should enable you to participate optimally and enable us to plan and guarantee a smooth course of events.
The provision of voluntary data enables us to plan and carry out the event in accordance with your interests.
Data processing is carried out at your request and is required according to Art. 6 Para. 1 S. 1 lit. b DSGVO for the stated purposes for the fulfilment of the participation contract and the pre-contractual measures.
The personal data collected by us for the event will be stored by us for a period of 6 months unless you have consented to further storage in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. a DSGVO or another legal basis in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. c DSGVO requires or permits longer storage.

Range measurement with Matomo

On the basis of our legitimate interests, we use this website to optimise and analyse our online services in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 letter f. DSGVO the range analysis of Matomo. The processed data will only be stored on our own server and, apart from the hosting provider, will not be passed on to third parties.

The following data will be processed: the browser type and browser version you are using, the operating system you are using, your country of origin, the date and time of the server request, the number of visits, your length of stay on the website and the external links you have activated. The user's IP address is anonymised before it is stored.
Matomo uses cookies which are stored on the user's computer and which enable an analysis of the use of our online offer by the user. Pseudonymous user profiles can be created from the processed data. The cookies have a storage period of one week. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website will only be stored on our server and will not be passed on to third parties. Users can object to the anonymous collection of data by the Matomo program at any time with effect for the future by clicking on the link below. In this case, a so-called opt-out cookie is stored in your browser, which means that Matomo no longer collects any session data. If users delete their cookies, however, this also means that the opt-out cookie is deleted and must therefore be reactivated by the users.
The logs containing the user data are deleted after 6 months at the latest.

Newsletter subscription

We offer you an e-mail newsletter in which we inform you about current events and research results of our institute at irregular intervals. If you would like to subscribe to the newsletter, you must provide a valid e-mail address. You will receive an e-mail in which you have to confirm your e-mail address via a link. Only if you follow this link do you agree to receive the newsletter. Revocation and cancellation: You can revoke your consent to receive the newsletter at any time and thus cancel your newsletter subscription. No further newsletters will then be sent to your e-mail address. However, your address remains stored on a kind of "blacklist" in order to protect our legitimate interest in not accidentally sending you further e-mails. At the end of each newsletter you will find the link to the cancellation.


User rights

As a user, you have the right to request free information about which personal data about you has been stored (Art. 15 DSGVO). You also have the right to have false data corrected and to have your personal data limited or deleted (Art. 16 & 17 DSGVO). If applicable, you may also exercise your right to data portability (Art. 20 DSGVO). If you believe that your data have been processed unlawfully, you may lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority (Art. 77 DSGVO).

Deletion of data

As long as your wish does not conflict with a legal obligation to store data (e.g. data retention), you have a right to deletion of your data. Data stored by us will be deleted if they are no longer needed for their intended purpose and there are no legal retention periods. If deletion cannot be carried out because the data is required for permissible legal purposes, data processing will be restricted. In this case, the data will be blocked and not processed for other purposes.


Right of objection

Users of this website may exercise their right to object to the processing of their personal data at any time (Art. 7 para. 3 DSGVO).
