The purpose of the association identified in its charter (PDF) is the promotion of science, research and innovation, especially in the fields of sensory and actuation systems, microsystem engineering and photovoltaics and their applications. The charter’s purpose is fulfilled especially by conducting research projects and events to disseminate scientific findings and to initiate research and education projects.
Members of the association are companies and research institutes as well as private members from all over Germany, chiefly from Thuringia, who are involved in research, development, production and applications in the field of sensory systems and microsystem engineering as well as photovoltaics.
The association’s activities are supervised by the following bodies:
The board manages the association’s business. It has the following duties in particular:
- To implement the charter’s purpose
- To draught the budget and the association’s annual financial statement
- To draw up and implement general meeting resolutions.
The academic supervisory board advises on scientific and technical issues especially regarding the institute’s strategic direction. Supervisory board members are science, research, business and political representatives.
