Quantum HUB Thuringia
German title: | Quantum HUB Thüringen
Acronym: | Quantum HUB Thüringen
Duration: | 1st May 2021 - 31st December 2023
Description: | With the launch of the Quantum Hub Thuringia on 31.05.2021, 11 Thuringian research institutions bundle their competences, in order to make Thuringia internationally known as a high-tech location for quantum technologies. The consortium focuses on 3 pillars: Quantum Computing, Quantum Communication and Quantum Sensor Technology. As a partner of the alliance, the CiS Research Institute will develop an industrial and scalable assembly and experimental evaluation of superconducting single photon detectors. Using flip-chip assembly as a build-up and interconnection technology, a detector is contacted with a silicon carrier chip. The carrier chip allows further interconnection, serves as a mechanical support and guarantees the precise positioning of an optical fiber. Various approaches are being investigated for electrical readout. Superconducting quantum circuits based on adiabatic flux parametrons (AQFP) as mixed-signal readout circuits, nano-cryotrons as digital current pulse amplifiers and cooled semiconductor amplifiers based on high-electron-mobility transistors (HEMT) are analyzed and evaluated for use in industrial systems. The new technology platform is a prerequisite for hybrid integration of quantum detectors with optical components and scalable electrical readout based on superconducting quantum electronics.
