Highly integrated and scalable interface circuits for quantum processors

Duration: | 1st September 2021 - 31st August 2024 | |
Description: | The aim is the circuit design for the control of a quantum processor. Models and design methods are to be developed, the concrete circuits simulated and a physical layout created. The crucial constraint is to design all circuits in such a way that a scalable control and readout architecture can be built. With the planned combination and efficient tuning of specific technologies, one of the main problems on the way to usable quantum computers with an appropriate number of superconducting quantum bits (qubits) is addressed. In the project, superconducting digital circuits based on the Adiabatic Flux Parameter (AQFP) are developed. This novel family of circuits is the only known family of electronics that can be perspectively combined with superconducting qubits to form a quantum processor with controller at a temperature level. The circuits will be fabricated and tested in a collaborative effort. Importantly, an experimentally evaluated cell library for driving a multi-qubit system will be developed. A technology platform with design rule kits (design rules) will be established to implement scientific developments quickly and efficiently. All solid state analysis techniques available at the CiS Research Institute will be used to monitor the development progress. This can be an important step for the acceptance of new quantum technologies. |
