Quantum Photonics will celebrate its premiere on May 13, 2025, as the European trade fair for quantum technologies and photonics. Messe Erfurt wants to send a clear signal that Thuringia is a center for quantum photonics. The event is supported by an advisory board, which includes Prof. Thomas Ortlepp, managing director of the CiS Research Institute.
On May 13 and 14, 2025, international experts from research, development, and application will discuss their ideas and results in the event’s four specialist forums. In the “Quantum for Mobility” forum, Dr. Mario Bähr from the CiS Research Institute will explain current developments in NV-based sensors, qubits, and their application in sensor devices and quantum computing in the context of mobility. These NV centers are conspicuous defects in diamonds and form the basis for various applications of quantum metrology and quantum computing at room temperature. The presentation will take place on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Hall 2.
The application-oriented congress will be accompanied by a trade exhibition. In Hall 2 at booth 2-709, the CiS Research Institute will present a selection of its activities in the field of quantum technologies and demonstrate an optical magnetic field sensor with diamond.

Guided tours of the exhibition stands will be offered on both days of the event, on May 13, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. (meeting point: Dome Quantum Photonics) and at 12:30 p.m., and on Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. at stand 2-304 in the rapid.tech3D area. This parallel event, the leading trade fair for the additive manufacturing industry, offers application possibilities for many optically based quantum technologies.
