On 5th and 6th May 2026, the CiS Research Institute will present its portfolio of quantum technologies at Booth 615 in Hall 2 at the Erfurt Trade Fair. This weekend, SPIE Photonics West, the world’s leading event for lasers, biomedical optics, optoelectronics, biophotonics, quantum technology, and image processing, kicks off in San Francisco, California, USA. The CiS Research Institute will be represented in the extensive conference program with two presentations on technologies for manufacturing quantum computers and high-speed NDIR gas sensors
On 4th November 2025, the CiS Research Institute invited the public to an open dialogue in the historic ballroom of Erfurt City Hall under the motto “Understanding quantum technologies – popular rather than scientific.” Interested citizens enjoyed an informative introduction to the event with experiments and a welcome address from the city of Erfurt. Around 60 interested participants joined Prof. Thomas Ortlepp, Managing Director of the CiS Research Institute, on a journey into the quantum world and the development of quantum computers
Under the motto Key Technologies for Photonic Quantum Systems, scientists and engineers from research and industry discussed the challenges and potential of photonic quantum technologies on 22nd October 2025. This year’s CiS MOEMS Workshop in Erfurt offered all participants an excellent platform to intensively discuss findings from projects and industry, exchange experiences, and generate new ideas
The leading photonics exhibition in the ASEAN region will take place from 26th-28th February at Marina Bay Sands. At the special exhibition area Photonics + Europe presented by IVAM, EPIC and W3+ of IVAM, at booth C206, the CiS Research Institute will present an excerpt of its portfolio and Prof. Thomas Ortlepp will give a lecture on “Photonic Quantum Sensor Based on Diamond NV-Centers – Hybrid Integration and Performance Evaluation”

At the first World of QUANTUM, the CiS Research Institute will present research and development priorities in the field of applied quantum technologies in three poster contributions. From 26 to 29 April 2022, the trade fair will take place parallel to LASER World of PHOTONICS at the Munich Trade Fair Center in Hall 4
Encrypted communication with the help of quantum processors – Physics team of the University of Jena and the CiS Research Institute is awarded with highly endowed innovation prize “INNOspace Masters Award” of the “DLR Challenge” for the project “QuVeKS – Quantum Processors for Encrypted Communication with Satellites
SPIE Photonics West 2021 will take place from March 6 to 11 as an online-only event. As part of OPTO 2021, the CiS Research Institute will give two presentations on current research results on the emission behavior of UV LEDs and on down converters for driving UV LEDs. The lectures are available for registered participants during the whole period of the event
