During the campaign period from 24th August to 13th September 2026, the motto in Erfurt was once again: Oil your chain, put on your helmet, and pedal hard. This year, the CiS Research Institute for Microsensor Technology once again participated in the STADTRADELN climate campaign with a dedicated team. The goal was to send a strong message in support of sustainable mobility, reduce CO₂ emissions, and collectively rack up kilometers as a team for climate protection.
A total of 19 cyclists from the CiS Research Institute took part. Whether on their daily commute through Erfurt or on leisure rides—every trip counted. Together, the institute team covered an impressive 3,006 kilometers on two wheels, saving more than 490 kilograms of CO₂ in the process. In doing so, the cycling researchers and developers not only made a tangible contribution to air quality and climate protection in the state capital but also, incidentally, improved their own health and strengthened team spirit.
A heartfelt thank you to all the City Cycling participants and great respect for this achievement on two wheels.
This year, too, the Erfurt Office of Environmental Protection and Nature Conservation will donate one tree for every 1,000 kilometers cycled during the campaign period. The tree-planting ceremony will once again take place in conjunction with the awards ceremony for the top City Cycling participants.
