The submitted SEM image with this joking paraphrase shows the rearrangement of Si microstructures at 1150°C in a hydrogen atmosphere. This submission from the CiS Forschunhsinstitut was awarded a special prize in the photo competition “NanObjectives 2.0”. The Förderverein für Mikro- und Nanotechnologien Ilmenau e.V. organizes this competition every two years. The aim is to make the small visible and tangible. Especially for those not familiar with the field, this perspective opens up access to an otherwise hidden world and gives an impression of research in micro- and nanotechnology.
