From 05.09. to 25.09.2022, the CiS Research Institute participated for the third time in the environmental competition “Stadtradeln”. The aim is to cycle as many everyday journeys as possible in a climate-friendly manner over 21 days. The kilometers cycled are invested directly in climate protection. Out of a total of 183 teams in Erfurt, the cycling enthusiasts from the CiS Research Institute reached the 50th place. The 15-member team cycled 2,300 kilometers during the campaign period. This enabled the 15 cyclists not only to avoid 354 kg of CO2, but also to win two trees for the tree planting campaign.
Tomorrow at 14:00 o’clock meeting place is at the Thuringian forest office Erfurt Willrode for the common tree planting action and honor of the best cyclists. For every 1,000 kilometers cycled during the campaign period, a tree will be donated by the Environment and Nature Conservation Office. They are supported by the association Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald, Landesverband Thüringen e. V. More than 2,400 active participants cycled 369,438 kilometers, which will be converted into a total of 369 planted trees tomorrow.
