With the Workshop on Quantum Technologies the exciting workshop autumn CiS began. The two-day hybrid event offered current research results from the fields of quantum sensor technology, quantum communication and computing as well as enabling technologies. Workshops on NDIR sensor technology and pressure sensor technology will follow every two weeks
The CiS Research Institute organised a summer school at the “Hotel am Wald” in Elgersburg from 24 to 28 September 2017. Renowned experts in diamond research imparted expertise on synthetic diamond coatings to students, PhD students, researchers and scientists in a total of 11 lectures
Synthetic diamond coatings can be manufactured on an industrial scale to be CMOS-compatible. The manufacturing and processing costs are comparable to those of other technologies, such as passivation or contacting. In order to implement diamond coatings as passive as well as active functional layers in sensors and to evaluate their industrial applicability, the CiS Research Institute is dedicated to pressure measurement in aggressive working environments and intelligent thermal management in current R&D projects
On 23 and 24 November, about 70 stakeholders from science and research, industry and politics discussed technological developments and market potentials of synthetic diamonds for diverse applications in Erfurt
Today more than ever, the market demands reliable, highly stable and durable materials at acceptable costs. The manufacturing process of artificial diamonds is environmentally friendly and the raw materials are almost unlimited. The technology is ready and now it is up to politics. The CiS Research Institute in Erfurt has taken the initiative and founded the “Smart Diamonds” cooperation platform together with the BMBF
As part of the BMBF’s “Enterprise Region” initiative, CiS is joining forces with all partners from research, application, production and mechanical engineering to implement these innovative possibilities in a way that is application-specific, suitable for industry and cost-effective.
