On the first day of the international industrial fair Hannover Messe, Reinhard Hans Bütikofer, Member of the European Parliament, visited our booth H26 in hall 3. He had a lively discussion with our colleagues Dr. Klaus Ettrich and Dr. Thomas Frank about applications of sensor technology to support the energy transition and related research tasks. He was very impressed by the demanding requirement profiles for sensors and their successful realization to be used in the hydrogen economy or wind energy utilization.
In detail, the CiS Research Institute presented palladium-coated MEMS structures, a joint development with Materion GmbH, for use in the natural gas grid to monitor the hydrogen content, as well as innovative sensor technology for monitoring safety-relevant screw connections, especially in the wind energy sector.
